evilempire22
Hi all, I recently purchased some new memory for my computer, which is a HP Pavilion a245c. The Corsair Memory Configurator suggested only one type for my machine: VS512MB333. From Configurator: Details for Hewlett-Packard Pavilion a245c/a245c-b Maximum Memory » 1.0 GB Expansion Slots » 2 sockets CPU Information » 2.08GHz AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Other Details » 333MHz FSB, nForce2-IGP Chipset Based on this information, I ordered the VS1GBKIT333 from newegg, and just tried to install the memory. Here is the problem: When I put in one stick, everything boots just fine. When I add the other stick, my machine starts to continuously reboot after the blue startup screen. I checked booting the machine with each memory stick individually, so I don't thing either of them is bad, but suspect that something is going on when both are used together...any suggestions? Thanks in advance! --Evil

DerekT
If each sticks tests out fine, then the issue is that the board is not working with those sticks. Corsair tests the machine out but one can not discount the possibility of incompatibility. You may wish to send the DRAM back and order some other DRAM that is on the list. Hopefully it will work. OEM machines can often be problematic with upgrading parts.

But, I would like to get a second opinion, preferably from RAM_GUY. --Evil
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 27, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 27, 2008 I would agree with DerekT if both modules run one up it is most likely some other issue. But to be sure please install both modules and then go to BIOS setup and load setup defaults and the test them with http://www.memtest.org.
