Etherealx51
Well I recently received and installed VX550w Power supply from Newegg, and now that I cut out the UPC to send it in for the rebate I’ve gotten a little paranoid. I’m starting to notice something that sounds like an electrical spark (Its kind of like crackling noise) that occurs randomly but not too often, and I’ve never heard it when I had my stock PSU. I am completely satisfied with my PSU and it seems to be working fine, but I would hate to have it fail and fry my components or something. Is the crackling noise something to be worried about or should I just ignore it?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 23, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 23, 2008 The noise itself would not indicate a failing PSU, however it should not be making any noises and if you like, we can have it replaced for you. If you decide you would like to have it replaced, then please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
Copyright
Does it sound like an old school film projector? Like a slight rattle if you stick your hear up to the PSU? I have talked to about 10 guys now with that problem.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 4, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 4, 2008 If that is the problem, please stop the fan and see if it stops. If it does then try and loosen the screws holding the fan about 1/4 turn and see if that will solve the problem.
