molloyda
Hi, I have just put together my latest system, in the core of which lays the Corsair TX750 and a Gigabyte P35T-DS3P. However, I am having a fairly major problem. When I start up the system, the fans all kick in (3 case fans directly connected to the power supply and the CPU fan and graphics card fan) - all looks good. Then after about 4 seconds (and no display as yet) the system shuts down and the fans go off. After about 2 seconds the system will try again.... but before we even get to a POST it will power down after about 4 seconds. Now the weird thing is that somewhere around 20 attempts it will get to the post and then everything works correctly. In addition, CTRL-ALT-DEL resets work just fine also. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer in relation to why this might be occurring. Is my power supply fault? My motherboard? Or is there something stupid I might be doing? Many thanks in advance, Dave
molloyda
The same behaviour occurs if I take out basically every other connector (apart from front panel connections). So power supply, motherboard... this on/off behaviour will repeatedly occur. I have connected the 2x12 and the 2x2 connectors (tried both 2x4 and 2x2 here - no difference). The PCIE_12V makes no difference whether I connect it or not. I'm tearing my hair out here - I can't even get the system to the point where I can find all the other problems I'm inevitably going to encounter! molloyda
Managed to source another power supply and hooked it up to the machine. The same behaviour was occuring, which directly suggests that the problem lies with the motherboard rather than the power supply. I guess I have a new forum to find! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 22, 2008 If you are having the same issues with another PSU, then that would suggest the mobo, or possibly the CPU might be causing the issues. Let us know if you have any more questions!
molloyda
I'm in the process of sending the motherboard back to the supplier - there is still a slim chance that the problem lies with the CPU I guess, but I think my money is on the motherboard. I'll pick a new brand of motherboard for sure anyway. Many thanks, Dave
