Davel23
I have the motherboard and CPU listed in the title, and I got some TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF along with it. I've overclocked the CPU to 3.6 Ghz which is a 400Mhz FSB, that means I should be able to run the RAM at DDR-1600 correct? The best I've been able to do so far is DDR-961, anything more than that and my computer freezes on boot, doesn't even reach POST. I've tried manually configuring the RAM timings from the posts in Ramguy's sig, but those don't work either. This RAM was pretty expensive and I'd like to get the most out of it I can, can anyone help?
DerekT
Have you increased your Northbridge? Please post your full CPU and DRAM BIOS settings.
Davel23
Right now my settings are at default, I tried both of the following sets of settings: Testing parameters for TWIN3X/XMS3-1600C7DHX (IN): TWIN3X2048-16000C7DHX Data Sheet Coming Soon Motherboard make and model: ASUS P5K3, P5E3 Premium/Deluxe ! DerekT
Those settings should be fine although your CPU voltage seems rather high. With the below settings, I noted you did not have the Ratio set to 8. I also note that your FSB termination is set to Auto. Try these settings: Remember. Before setting to these values. Shut the system down. Remove the Power Supply Cord. Remove the CMOS battery. Set the CMOS_CLR jumper to the pin on position. Press the Power Button for 10 seconds. Let sit for 10 minutes. Replace the CMOS Battery. Replace the CMOS_CLR jumper to the pin off position. Replace the Power Supply Cord. Restart the system. Enter the BIOS. Load Setup Defaults. Save Setup Defaults. Reboot. Enter the BIOS and set to the below values. AI Overclock: Manual CPU Ratio Control: 6.0 FSB Frequency: 450 MHz FSB Strap to Northbridge: 400 PCIE Frequency: 100 DRAM Frequency: DDR3-1800 DRAM Command Rate: 2T DRAM Timings Control: Manual CAS# Latency: 7 RAS# to CAS# Delay: 7 RAS# Precharge: 7 RAS# Activate to Precharge:20 DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled DRAM Dynamic Write Control: Disabled CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled CPU Voltage: 1.375V CPU PLL Voltage: Auto DRAM Voltage:1.8V for 2 Gig FSB Termination Voltage: 1.4v North Bridge Voltage: 1.4v Boot to memtest and retest. You should be at 2.7Ghz on the CPU and 1800 DDR3 1800. Test also with: CPU Ratio Control: 6.0 FSB Frequency: 400 MHz FSB Strap to Northbridge: 400 PCIE Frequency: 100 DRAM Frequency: DDR3-1600 DRAM Command Rate: 2T DRAM Timings Control: Manual CAS# Latency: 7 RAS# to CAS# Delay: 7 RAS# Precharge: 7 RAS# Activate to Precharge:20 DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled DRAM Dynamic Write Control: Disabled CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled CPU Voltage: 1.375V CPU PLL Voltage: Auto DRAM Voltage:1.8V for 2 Gig FSB Termination Voltage: 1.4v North Bridge Voltage: 1.4v Boot to memtest and retest. You should be at 2.4Ghz on the CPU and 1600 DDR3 1600. These tests are just to remove the CPU as a variable to stability. Test with FSB Strap to 333 as well, keeping in mind that the strap will change the DRAM dynamic. If you have issues with this setup, then shut the system down and remove the second slot stick of DRAM. Retest each stick singly. Results?
