RamGuy,

Im sure this has been answered before but I could only find a 4GB setup in search and the 8500C5D spec sheet uses an ASUS MB as reference so here goes. I just purchased one set of Twin2x2048-8500C5D and an EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1. Could you please suggest some voltage and timing settings for stable gaming (I have no intention of overclocking).

You can use the tested settings from the link in my signature for reference when setting up your MB BIOS just load setup defaults and set the memory Voltage to what is stated on the modules ( 2.1-2.2 Volts) and set Command Rate to 2t and then set SLI Ready Memory to CPU Max should be all you need to set.

I have a new evga 780i board and the TWIN2X2048-8500C5. I can only run stable with out the C1 error at 800mhz expert settings 2.1v 5,4,4,12t,2 i believe. as soon as i increase the mhz to 1066 I get the C1 error settings are 5,5,5,15,2t at the 1066. I have run memtest 1.7 and the newest for 12 hours with no errors. what to do>> EVGA says it is the memeory. It is version 2.1 memory. I can get both modules to run by themselves in the farthest memory slot from the cpu. I had it running once i rebooted with both modules in the 0 and 2 slots.... blue.... don't know if i need to rma both or one or the other.

This issue has been following Nvidia chipset based boards around ever since the 680i was released and the 780i is just a refresh of the 680i. It is NOT a new architecture, just a revamping and remarking in order to attempt to show that they are current.

If you memtest without errors and test this DRAM on another Intel based chipset board you will find no issues. I personally never choose a non-intel based chipset for Intel CPU platforms. They are the not the most reliable. EVGA will make it harder to RMA. They will complain that the issue is not the board as they do not want to look at this issue.

Both the EVGA and XFX boards use the same questionable PWM design and cheap capacitors that were the likely cause of the many NB burnout and fried-RAM issues experienced with the 680i boards. If you browse the EVGA 780i forum, you will no doubt see many people complaining about the familiar C1 error, as well as a new dead board FF error which often precludes an RMA.

If you want a DRAM RMA, then Corsair will support you even though you have no Memtest issues. You will very likely have the same issue repeat though because I believe that the issue is not the DRAM.
