Strange TX750

I bought a corasir TX750 for a new build i,m starting.. Now I,ve bench tested the power supply like I do ever part before i put it in the case which is a thermaltake Armour.

Now I,ve noticed something very strange with this power supply and was wondering if theirs a minimum load to make it work properly.. Now using a paper clip on the green wire to ground on the 24 pin motherboard connector I,ve noticed something weird that I"venot seen with any other power supply I,ve ever owned and thats been several antec and enermax supplys. When I ground the green to ground and have the power supply loaded with a dvd drive 2 hard drives, and a fan control with 5 fans connected to it, the power supply will either start and run for a few seconds and then shut down or it will flicker all the components hooked upto it like its not being loaded enough and doesnt want to properly turn on.. I,ve benched all the other components and can find no fault with them.. I,ve taken the power supply and temporarily hooked it up to this computer which is really not very good but does probably draw a good 120 watts of power when running and it seems to work fine. No problems. all the other components function properly on the other power supply.

I dont get it does the 3.3 volt line need to be loaded for this thing to run properly or is their a minimum amperage load for the TX750 to operate correctly.

The case it a thermaltake armour with a 250 cm side fan and 5 case fans.

The power supply is obviousely a TX750

The dvd drive is a sata is a LG

The hard drives are all sata and consist of a segate 500 gb

and 2 WD 150 gb raptors.

The fan controler is a Zalman ZM-MFC2 and its loaded up right now with 5 fans.

Thats all I,ve bought for now as Ilike to get the interior of the case painted all the fan wiring cleaned up and some other niceties done before i buy everything else and finish it off but I,m perplexed by why this power supply acts like this in the case even though its got a small load and I know i,m using the right wire to turn it on for a few minutes.

Why does it not run with a small load and why if it does run does everthing flicker even when everything benches okay on another computer. And then why does the power supply seem to be fine in another computer.. Am I missing something like a minimum load requirement thats more than what i have hooked up?

I would recommend jumping the PSU with each device plugged in, individually. See if you can isolate a certain component that is causing the PSU to shut off. If the PSU shuts off while powering every device, then we can get it replaced for you. You can use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.

Done that it does it even with a basic case fan in that case ,but i,m using the TX750 now on this computer and the power supply seems to be working fine.. It doesnt matter what i hook up to the power supply even 1 at a time in my new build(dvd drive, hard drive, fan controler) with the paper clip being used to turn it on.. It acts very strangely but when its in a computer( this one at least ) it works fine..

Thats why I asked does this power supply need a certain minimum load to actually function properly..

From the sound of it, I would think that the paperclip you are using to start the PSU might not be giving a solid connection between the green and black wires. If the PSU works fine when its being used in a system, then there may be a problem with the way you are jumping the pins on the ATX connector. I wouldn't worry about having any problems, but if you want to know for sure you can get a cheap PSU tester to make sure all the rails are OK. If you end up having any problems when the PSU is installed in the system then we would be more than happy to replace it for you!
