Avvelenato
Hi, i've got some problems with my brand new flash padlock 4gb, received 2 days ago. When i try to copy from or to the pendrive a large amount of data, after 20-30sec. appears an error, which i could try to traslate in: "unable to save all data of the file \Device\Harddisk2\DP(1)0-0+11\Filename. Data get lost. The cause of the error could be an hardware error or a net connection one. Try to save file elsewhere." I tried that pendrive on other computers, and it seems to work perfectly, without any issue. I tried many usb port on my motherboard and even to use an external powered usb hub, but the problem remains. it seems that the pendrive is unmounted after 30sec of exchanging data with my pc. Is the pendrive faulty or it is my pc? Can i fix this problem with some workaround? here's my system: motherboard: dfi nforce 250gb cpu: athlon 64 3700+ socket754 (clawhammer) ram: geil 2x1gb SO: win 2k SP 4 TAD. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2008 If the drive is working properly on other systems then it is most likely a problem with that system. You might check the MB power source for the USB Ports most MB's will default to the standby Voltage and there is usually a jumper to set the power source to the +5 Volts rail from what you have posted I would suspect maybe the PSU cannot provide enough power for those devices on the +5VSB Rail. Especially if you are using a lot of USB devices on tat system.
Avvelenato
i don't think this problem is due to the psu. i've got a good brand 550w psu, i think is enough for my system (motherboard, cpu and ram as said above, plus a dvd-burner, 2 hdd at 7200rpm, two system fans). I don't have anything on usb but the mouse, which sucks only 98mA. I measured voltage with a voltmeter, and it says 5,02v, i think this is not the problem. So, there are 2 cases: 1) motherboard faulty 2) something wrong in the OS i'll try to reinstall Win XP on my pc, hoping it will resolve this problem. :(:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2008 NO you have miss understood what I have posted. When I say there is a power problem I am not saying it is your PSU that is the problem, it can be; and the size of the PSU is not the question. 1. What power source does your MB Mother Board use for the USB Ports? 2. If its the +5VSB; AKA standby Voltage, how much is provided by your PSU? 3. And how many devices are using that power? Number three you answered only using the mouse should not be an issue. The other comment was for testing some MB's are better than others for how they distribute power and any MB could have some minor power problem that may cause this type of anomaly IE shared Voltage regulators in a 3 or 6 phase regulation setup with one of the regulators malfunctioning for example. So the suggestion was to check what power source your MB is using on the MB and see if it can be changed usually there is a jumper or jumpers to do this. maintenance
It seems we have the same problem. I have four 2GB and one 4GB-Padlock, and all have the same problem, I cannot use any from those. While coping/writing abruptly the stick is no longer available - no more access to the stick. This bug is confirmed » German Corsair forum
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 28, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 28, 2008 That would just suggest that you both have something that is the same with your systems. And what is the complete system configuration and what is the file size you are trying to copy?
