CompbuildA
Currently I have 1GB of ram in my system. I want to add another 1GB. I am currently using: 1GB Matched Memory pair (2 x 512MB) Corsair XMS DDR Twin1024-3200LL On a Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 with a Pentium 4 3.0Hz I want to keep the dual channel running on my system and I am aware the only guaranteed way is to get the exact same RAM. Unfortunately this RAM at the moment is really hard to get. So my question is if I get: 2x XMS Ram DDR Memory 512mb PC 3200LL 400MHz CMX512RE-3200LL Which as far as I can tell is the same memory as the Twin1024-3200LL just not certified. Will my computer still run as dual channel? Or would I be better off getting a Twin like CORSAIR 1GB 2x 512MB XMS TWINX1024 DDR PC3200 TWINX1024-3200XL My only concern with this one is that I think the timing might be different (its XL not LL) than what I am already using. Or should I just hope to come across what I already have like the “want to buy more ram (but revision are diff now)” sticky suggested. Any and all help appreciated. P.S. Any way to download the memory basic presentation?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2008 I would suggest you just replace what you have now with one set of VS2GBKit400C3 as the best option as I am sorry but we are not producing any DDR1 in XMS any longer. CompbuildA
Oh I know DDR 1 has not been made in a long while I was thinking Ebay/Cregslist to find the older Cosair Ram (ones I listed/you sugested.) Just wanted to see which way you said to go. Thank you for the reply.

This is due to the "R" in the part number, which denotes that this is registered memory (the "E" in the part number means ECC). The Intel 875P chipset that's on your motherboard supports ECC but not registered memory; however, unbuffered ECC memory is very rare these days. Jerry_E
Ram Guy, I have a custom build pc. Mother board is ABIT AS8. Spec says expandable to 4gb. Currently using Corsair VS1GBKIT400 x2 = 2gb. I'm not planing a new pc anytime soon. Home hobby is video editing. I'm contemplating changing to TWINX2048-3200C2PT x2 = 4gb while still available. Your comments please. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2008 As long as they are all matched should not be a problem, but I suspect you may have to run them at DDR333 with that MB.
