why the Corsair Flash Survivor 8GB so slow?

That is about right for the current drives, older drives use SLC based technology but were limited in size. And all newer Flash Drives are using MLC based technology but will support higher density memory.

Are you now saying that both the Voyager AND the Voyager GT are using MLC based technology?????

...if so, what are we getting for the "GT" price premium????????

The GT line of drives 2,4, and 8 Gig have all been discontinued but were all SLC based.

The drives in question 2 Gig and an 8 Gig FV will not have the same performance and all drives made no are MLC based. However, the 2 Gig drive he has may be a bit older and made with SLC technology.

Hi,

Did I understand correctly that my recently purchased Survivor GT 8GB was not worth of my money spent on it? It is not near as fast as I expected. It gives me 23 MB/s average read speed.

If I knew that it will give me such a low speed I would have rather bought non GT version.

I talked to TechSupport and they suggested to exchange it for new but, if I understood you correctly, it is not going to help because new Survivors are MLC based and are not as fast as they used to be. Why was not it reflected in the product description?

Should I or should I not bother with an exchange? Can I get higher capascty unit nonGT series instead?

Best
