Cerwin
I put together a new system (Specs clickable above) and I'm having some problems. 2x sets of TWIN2X2048-8500C5D (4 sticks total) in an Asus Maximus Formula for quick reference. It's crashing at random intervals unless I run the memory as ddr2-800. Once I run the memory as ddr2-800 it runs fine; but I would like to run my memory to it's fullest potential. How can I get this running up to speed? Also, in vista 32bit, it shows 2.25gb of memory. Is this because I have 2 vid cards with 1gb of ram each? My friends system shows 3.25 gb with 1x 8800gts 512. Thanks in advance for all the help.
Wired
They ARE DDR2-800 sticks, so that's normal! In fact, normally with 4 sticks you'd have to lower it to 667, so if they're running fine @ 800, then all the better. Yes, 2.25 due to 32-bit and 1 GB video cards. Are you planning on upgrading to a 64-bit OS later? If not, that's a whole lot of memory that's gone to waste.
Cerwin
wow, it's early... I copy and pasted the wrong memory description. Sorry, Wired.
Wired
Gotcha. The speed's still normal then. As I mentioned earlier, 4 x DDR2-800 should be run @ 667, and the same idea applies to 4x DDR2-1066, in that they should be run @ 800. You'd have to OC the system to get back some of the speed. 4 sticks place a larger load on the memory controller than 2 sticks.
Cerwin
Hmm... mabey I need to RMA and get 2x2gb 1066... Thanks again for the advice.
Wired
That doesn't exist. Fastest 4 GB pack Corsair currently manufactures is the Twin2X4096-6400C4DHX.
