That system only supports up to PC2700 memory, and the SPDs used in Corsair's DDR1 modules are not fully compatible with Dell BIOSes. In your case, the memory SPD will try to set the motherboard to an unsupported setting which cannot be overridden at all; hence, a no-POST. In addition, it depends on whether you have a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 or a 2.4GHz Celeron: The 2.4GHz Celeron, as sold during the Dimension 2400's heyday, was available only with a "400MHz" FSB, while the 2.4GHz Pentium 4 of the day came in both "533MHz" and "400MHz" FSB versions. If you have a "533MHz" FSB model, you have no choice but to go with PC2700 (DDR333) memory. Otherwise, if you have only a "400MHz" FSB model processor, you'll have to buy PC2100 (DDR266) memory. Garvin
Unfortunately when Dell says "Upgrade type System specific memory," you need to be sure of compatibility before purchasing, sorry. You may be able to send it back to the vendor you used and swap it for RAM that is compatible.

That system uses an Intel 845GV chipset, which is officially limited to DDR333 (PC2700) memory speed support by Intel itself. And a compatible DDR400 (PC3200) rated memory module should automatically downclock to DDR333 or DDR266 speed, depending on the processor you have in that system. However, for some reason, the SPD chips on Corsair's DDR1 memory modules don't work properly on Dell systems. In addition, Dell has only tested its own OEM memory upgrade modules (which were/are only sold directly from Dell) on its DDR1 systems it sold at the time; Dell has never tested any third-party (aftermarket) DDR1 memory modules at all on any of its Dimension 2xxx series systems.
