DerekT
isn't ddr backwards compatible regarding speed? should i be able to use a 512mb ddr400? This is theoretically the case. However, some OEM machines have issues when installing faster capable DRAM and need to have the supported speed DRAM installed. I have found Intel, Dell and Gateway to be the ones that cause the most issues. Also, I have found that with Intel CPU's, Dell and Gateway usually use Intel boards which brings me to the possible conclusion that Intel boards are VERY finicky about the DRAM installed. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 19, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 19, 2008 Please look up your system on our memory configurator and only use the modules that are suggested for your system. If your system is not listed I would suggest using the memory suggested by the system builder.
