Support - I got a raw deal.

I sent in my 4GB Blue Voyager for repair, case # 284758. It was one of the original SLC models that I paid well over $100 for. Now that Corsair has changed their technology to the slower MLC for the blue flash drives (a bad decision from a marketing point of view in my opinion), Corsair replaced my expensive SLC drive with a cheap/slow MLC drive. I still have it sitting on my desk - unopened.

I bought the drive with a warranty and the expectation that it would be replaced with a model of similar specs and speed if anything went wrong.

I think it was wrong to come out with a slower product bearing the same "badge" as the old product. The old product built up a reputation in the computing world as a best-in-class. But it is even worse to cheat your existing customers by replacing the good product with the bad in support situations.

That is not correct please call our customer service at 888-222-4346 or 510-657-8747 and dial "0" and ask for a supervisor they will help you. But I would check the drive first they may have replaced it for a SLC based unit.

I'm getting 28116 KB read, 14153 write @100MB with HDBench. Shouldn't I be getting around 30/20 with SLC?

I've tested both the GT and non-GT versions of Voyagers that are currently being sold. Testing was performed on 3 different test platforms (see my post "16GB Voyager GT Not Performing Well" in this forum). I used 4 different testing utilities: HD-Bench, HD-Tach, HD-Tune and ATTO-Benchmark.

For the GT drive, 3 platforms times 4 test utilities gave me a total of 12 tests...yet, only one of the twelve tests showed results close to what you're expecting (Platform 1 using ATTO). All of the testing would suggest that a GT operating at or above 29MB/s Read and 12MB/s Write would meet spec for what is now coming off Corsair's production line.

i am currently in a similar position to the original poster, i have RMA'd my 8GB SLC voyager, and when i had a case number i phoned in and spoke to a gentleman about the SLC / MLC issue, and he told me to give him a ring back when i had the full RMA number and he would deal with it and ensure i got a replacement comparable in speed (i have to call monday but dont expect any issues)
