dstott
I purchased the twin2x4096-6400c5hdx g set from TigerDirect on 1/29/08. I can no longer RMA to TigerDirect as I have submitted my rebate paperwork. I have tried the RAM in two motherboards, an XFX Nvidia 680i LT and an EVGA Nvidia 680i. The XFX board was using a Maddog 570 watt PS and the EVGA is using an Antec 850 watt Truepower Quattro. Both systems were using a 512 meg Nvidia 8600 GT video board. In all cases the results were the same. Both boards would halt at the point prior to returning the memory timing parameters if both sticks of RAM were used in any pair of slots. Ditto if the stick I have designated as "bad" was used in any slot by itself. The remaining stick of RAM boots 100% of the time in any slot of wither MB. Additional testing was impossible as I was never able to make it into the Bios with the "bad" stick in the machine. I suspect I will have to return both sticks of RAM, leaving my computer down for yet another week and a half, though I would prefer to continue operating on the remaining 2 gig stick. Please advise. bigbuck08
You may be able to get an advanced RMA. This would make it so you would not lose your computer for a week to two weeks. However, Corsair would need to place a temporary hold on your credit card until your RMA'ed RAM is recieved. Im not sure if Corsair does advanced RMA's so you will have to wait until Ram Guy responds or call their customer service.
dstott
Thanks for a great suggestion. I would have no problem with them having the cost of the RAM on hold with my CC company until my set got there. That would be an enormous help after spending a lot of time testing multiple sets of components to determine why everything didn't boot. Hopefully they have a policy that supports this!
