PC CHIPS (ECS) A13G+ V3 Mboard memory

Can't find this in your configuration tool..it accepts the usual range of DDR2, but I'm trying to order memory for it, and there are a number of similar, but not identical, offerings that I can choose from, so I need some advice on which modules are compatable. For example, I'm aiming for dual channel PC6400, like the TWIN2X2048-6400, but there is also a TWIN2X2048-6400C4, which seems very close, but must be somehow different. Suggestions on which of your parts would work in this motherboard? Thanks!

thanks for the reply..of course, ECS has no specific recommendations other than the usual "DDR2, 400mhz to 800mhz" yada yada yada. That's the problem with low-end motherboards. :( Next time I'll get an asus or abit or something that people recognize - my bad for being new at this game.

Interestingly, the item you recommend, PC5300, costs 50% more (after rebate) at newegg than the PC6400 does, which is why I was leaning towards the PC6400, which I presume would give me better performance for lower cost (hard to beat that combo!).

With those value based motherboards it can be a crap shoot and Value Select conforms fully to the JEDEC standards and has the most possible compatibility. I can't see why the VS is more expensive than the Twin2X. It should not be so.

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB)

@ $45.99

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB)

@ $54.00

Keep in mind that with your board, it is a crap shoot to try the higher end DRAM. You can always give it a try though.

thanks..the difference in cost (to me) is a $20 rebate and free shipping on the PC6400, since, as you point out, the 5300 should be cheaper (at least until it becomes obsolete and hard to find..ironic isn't it, that things like CDROM drives can cost more than DVD-DL burners due to supply/demand funkiness...). Maybe corsair is trying to dump some excess inventory of the PC6400?

Is there any reason I can't try the PC6400 and, if need be, dial back the bios settings to make it look like PC5300? That way, I have some chance of faster ram, and if it doesn't work on this Mboard as PC6400, I have the option of a free upgrade (in terms of ram) if I upgrade my motherboard...

No, that's a good idea since you have a backup plan "B" in case it does not work.
