Griking
I just picked up this systemboard and an Intel 6600q CPU from New Egg. I also purchased two sticks of TWIN2X2048-8500C5D Ram to go with it. Now, forgive me if this is a newbish question because I am new to these things but when my PC posts its reporting that my RAM is operating at 800mhz and not the 1066mhz that I thought it would. I kind of assumed that my new board wold recognize the ram that I'd put into it and auto configure itself. Do I need to manually configure my BIOS for this ram to work as advertised? If so what would I need to change? For the record, I'm not interested in over-clocking at all, I just want ti to perform as fast as it should as configured. And help would be appreciated. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2008 Do you have two modules or Two sets or 4 modules? With just one set of Two modules you can set the tested settings for the memory from the link in my signature. However, if you have 4 modules DDR800 would be suggested. I bought two packages of two chips so I have a total of (4) 1gb chips.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2008 Then I would suggest the tested settings with the memory frequency set to DDR800.
Griking
Why isn't the RAM able to be configured for 1066? I mean, I'm not trying to be a PITA but I could have paid less for 800mhz RAM if I wanted my ram to run at 800mhz My system board says that it supports 1066 RAM. Isn't the RAM able to run at the advertised speed or should I request an RMA?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 19, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 19, 2008 You are welcome to try anything you like but the tested settings would be with one set of modules and it is hit and miss running 4 modules at DDR1066. But as I stated DDR800 would be suggested.
