JoeC
The following questions have probably been asked 100 times before but from what I could find, not in the same setup that I have. As far as I can tell, the ram works fine when I do not have both matched pairs running at the same time, but I am having some stability issues using both types of matched pair ram (constant bugchecks). I have not tried to bump the speed down to 667 and increasing the voltage to 2.1 yet because the ram runs a little warm and I didn't wanna risk burning it out. I tried a couple of manual settings and from what I could tell, the best stability that I got was when I was using 1.8V and manually setting the timing to 5-5-5-18-2t (about 17 min). If I do bump the voltage up to 2.1 should I need an active cooling solution for the sticks? Would it be possible to run the ram at 667 MHz without increasing the voltage and not suffer any ill effects? Should my 500W power supply be sufficient for running them all with 2 raptor 36 GB and a seagate 750 GB drive? I have a cheesy 64 MB PCI video card in the box right now (server duty) but was hoping to upgrade in the distant future.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2008 I would not suggest mixing memory on any system for best performance. I would just use the 4 Gig set of modules. But if you do use 4 modules make sure they are in D/C with the matching module. And you will need to set the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the timings manually to Cas 5-5-5-15 at 2.0 Volts.
