chas1723
I currently have 1 gig of TwinX CMX512-3200LLPT. I would like to upgrade to at least 2 gig. I notice they no longer sell this type of memory. What would be a comparable memory to upgrade to?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2008 I am sorry but there is no part that would work with these modules, it would be best to just replace them with one set of Twinx2048-3200C2 modules for best performance. chas1723
That is what I was looking for.....something that performance wise would be similar. I did not think that they would be compatible. It is a shame because this memory has been rock solid running at: Memory timing (1T) Tcl (2) Tras (5T) Trcd (2T) Trp (2T) Thanks for your quick response
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2008 The modules I suggested should be able to run at Cas 2-3-3-6 at DDR400 with out problems and Command Rate is more of a CPU setting so it might run at 1t but 2t would be suggested. chas1723
Thanks for the info....got 2 gigs on the way. Will I see any real world difference in those timings compared to what I run at now?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2008 You old modules will be faster but these will be able to run more from memory.
chas1723
I stuck in these new sticks with my old ones at the timings you suggested just to see if they would work together. Seems OK so far. What issues would happen if they did not work nicely together? Would the system not boot or would it just be random lockups? Thanks for all your help
DerekT
You would experience instabilities such as dram read/write errors, blue-screens, etc. Download Memtest from http://www.memtest.org. Burnt the Memtest ISO to CD and boot to the CD. Allow for two full passes. Results?
chas1723
I ran memtest for 4 passes and came up with no errors. I guess that means this stuff is ok together?
