Asus M3A32 MVP Deluxe and Corsair

I am now considering moving up to the new 790FX chipset from AMD on this Asus M3A32 MVP board, and Asus' QVL sheet does not list Corsair as a supported Ram Vendor; however, your configurator recommends RAM for this MOBO.

I wanted to get the Corsair DOMINATOR 2GB PC2-8500 DDR DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit (1GBx2 - MPN: TWIN2X20488500C5D), but I wanted to see if anyone has used this RAM on this MOBO, and what were the results. I am running XP Pro SP2 and am considering the AMD 5000+ Black Edition.

I just want to make sure that this RAM will work on this board, since ASUS doesn't list it.

Thanks

This memory is compatible with your motherboard, we have tested it in our lab and you can see the results by searching our Test Reports. Asus as well as other motherboard manufactures will not test each and every type of memory for everyone of their boards, it would simply take too long. They will normally pick the most popular memory to test with their systems and leave it up to memory manufacturers to test compatibility with their systems.

i was under impression that 1066 mhz only works with the phenom series as the x2 processors "talk" at 800 mhz ht where as phenom at 1000 to 1800 mhz. did i misinterpret that tech statement. as i understand the pc2-8500 will run at default of pc2-6400 albeit with alot of overclock room

i am presently using the new bios 0902 with the dominator pc2 8500/phenom 9500 combo and running at 212 mhz fsb for a core speed of 2332 mhz with memory frequency at 567.2 mhz at 2t. with this processor there isnt much more room as the ht is non adjustable and is locked at 11x.. the use of the 9600be would be a much better choice for overclock as able to unlock the multiplier without overclocking memory.

i will submit results of this when my new processor arrives

I'm also considering the same build with the same ram. I'm wondering whether the "mempipes" and heat pipes that are included with the mobo will work with the ram, seeing as how the Dominator series already has the heat spreader. Is it sort of a one or the other type thing, or is it OK to double up with the heat spreader that comes on the ram, and the heat pipes from the mobo?

Thanks
