shannonjpower
I have a Q6600, Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 and TWIN2X2048 6400C4. I cannot get my PC to run stable at stock settings whilst running 2 sticks of ram. I have tried running memtest with both sticks in at the same time and it continually freezes. No errors are reported, it just stops responding. But, when i try each stick individually both of them pass memtest without any errors. Its only when i put the 2 sticks in together at stock settings my PC freezes in Windows. I have tried setting the volts to 2.1 and tried stock timings of 5.5.5.18, aswell as 4.4.4.12 without any success.I have also tried various different bios's for my motherboard with no luck. One thing i have noticed is that when i underclock my CPU back from 2.4Ghz, to 2.0Ghz, everything runs fine. Any help would be great!
Xtreeme
what is your fsb and ram divider at?
Matze
Hi, I have the same problem... using C2Duo 6750, Asus P5N-E SLI and the Corsair TWIN2X2048 6400C4 package I too have tried the different Voltage and timings setting without result. System will hang after random Time interval. I havent tried the underclocking yet.. (running at 2666 now) FSB at 333 ??? and ram divider unknown (Auto ???) Xtreeme
I would try the other dimm slots. The Dual channel slots furthest from cpu. The reason I asked about ram divider was some of them can make your ram too fast etc. With 333fsb you could try 1:1 however the ram will be at 667. But it could be a divisor issue. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2008 Normally if the memory works when tested individually and the system only gives you errors when running both modules at the same time, then there may be an issue with the memory controller or one of the DIMM slots on the baord. If you can't narrow it down to a specific DIMM slot then you may want to test the modules in a different system.
Matze
Ok. Got pc running stable... 1) I tested Ram -> errors on one stick 2) I changed the Ram for another set (same specs) -> memtest still gave errors 3) I tried the differrent RAM-Banks ->still errors (Timings Manual & Auto) 4) I set my RAM divider from "Auto" or "Linked" (800Mhz) to Unlinked and set it to 666 Mhz, thus giving me a 1:1 FSB to MEM ratio.... (Timings on auto) (MemVoltage set to 2.17V) Memtest does not give any errors in this configuration CPUZ identifies the Dual Channel Memory running at following specs: 333.4 Mhz, FSB:DRAM 1:1, Timings 5,5,5,15(tRAS),19(tRC),1T(CR) As I don't know too much about overclocking etc. I still have a Question. The Memory is supposed to cope with 800Mhz ?? what does this mean. CPUZ also gives following info on the CPU Core Speed 2667,0 Mhz Multiplier 8x Bus speed 333.4 Mhz Rated FSB 1333.5 Mhz Hope the info helps someone MATze:D::eek:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2008 Matze, please try the following: Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard and then load optimized defaults and set the Memory Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings to 4-4-4-12-2T (CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-Command Rate) and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! Please allow memtest to run 2-3 passes on each module. If you still get errors, we will be happy to replace them! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. shannonjpower
I have tried the ram in a different PC and got the same problem. memtest freezes with both modules installed but passes with one stick at a time. This is the weirdest thing i have come accross so far.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2008 If you are getting the same issues in multiple systems then lets get the memory replaced. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
Xtreeme
CPUZ identifies the Dual Channel Memory running at following specs: 333.4 Mhz, FSB:DRAM 1:1, Timings 5,5,5,15(tRAS),19(tRC),1T(CR) 1T. Command rate should be 2Tfor that ram. 1T is very hard to run. That could account for not running 800mhz on your system, but run at 667.
