expresso Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I would like confirmation from an ASUS tech on if these two matched pieces will work with the information I've provided. Please review what I have stated again as well as the links. I looked up the ASUS board M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WiFi-AP. It states that you can use the following but what about mine without anything after the 6400 in the model? The list here talks about C4, C5 at the end. Can I still use this memory though if it is just plain old TWIN2X2048-6400 in this board? Of the 6400 range for Twin, this is what it lists but I still wonder if it will support just plain old "TWIN2X2048-6400": TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX TWIN2X4096-6400C5 TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX TWIN2X2048-6400C3DF TWIN2X2048-6400C4 TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX TWIN2XP2048-6400C4 TWIN2X1024-6400C4 And in this page, it also doesn't show "TWIN2X2048-6400" as being supported by this motherboard but by a different motherboard alltogether: http://www.corsair.com/testreports/report_list.aspx?partner_id=238134 So the model is so close to the others. ASUS, will that RAM run on this board even though it's not technically listed and the only difference I can see is the C4 appended at the end in the list above?
Xtreeme Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Your seeing how the seller is listing it. There is no plain old TWIN2X2048-6400 They all end in something as corsair lables them. For example two types TWIN2X2048-6400c5 is just cas5. TWIN2X2048-6400C4 is cas4. TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX is with dual heat exchange. As for whats 100% compatable with that board. Im sure ramguy will know.
expresso Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 >>>There is no plain old TWIN2X2048-6400 They all end in something On the chip it has CM2X1024-6400. On the Fry's sticker it has TWIN2X2048-6400 but when I flipped over this package, I see the actual label from Corsair saying "TWIN2X2048-6400 G" not sure if G is part of that but it sure looks like this is a valid model without anything after the 6400. I looked up CM2X1024-6400 and it is listed for this motherboard. But, I see next to it it states it's a DDR2-800 (XMS2-6400C5). Ok, but I still don't see then a TWIN2X2048-6400C5 then in the list for this motherboard as being compatible when you use the configurator. I can't just assume just because one 1 gig module (CM2X1024-6400) is compatible that 2 will also be ok even if they are matched in the package. I just want to be sure that 2 will be ok running on this motherboard paired together. I also want to know what "G" is because apparently that's part of the model number if I look at some of the Corsair rebates out there. I don't see G anywhere on the Corsair listings for this motherboard or any other motherboards for that fact so it makes it definitely frustrating if you are trying to make sure you're also buying the same modules online and trying to make sure this is compatible with this motherboard. I plan on buying another pair but now I think "G" is part of the model #. http://www.google.com/products?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T5GGLL_enUS261&q=TWIN2X4096-6400C5+G&um=1 Also, what's wierd is all of them with "G" in the google results show up over $100. The fry's package was $60 - rebate. So that's is very odd also because I know this is not going to be $100 on the net however it's stating it's G which is showing as more expensive on the net. maybe Corisair labled it wrong on the back card in the package, I don't know. If you look online, this is a link which is showing the model I bought at Fry's today: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA22682&RSKU=BA22682 On one fo the RAM modules itself after I pull it out of the package, here's the info I see: CM2X1024-5600 1.90 ver7.3 Latency is 5-5-5-12 800mhz 1024MB XMS2-6400 3503884 08010016 There are 2 in this package, so TWIN2X2048-6400 is on the Fry's label as well as on Corsair's on their sticker inside the package. http://www.corsair.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=393408#other_modules I would like confirmation from an ASUS tech on if these two matched pieces will work with the information I've provided. Please review what I have stated again as well as the links.
Wired Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 There is no plain old TWIN2X2048-6400 Tell that to Corsair :) They do in fact exist: http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X2048-6400.pdf I looked up CM2X1024-6400 and it's not listed for this motherboard so I'm still in the same question, will this work still though? CM2X1024-6400 is listed, and is compatible, as is the Twin2X pack.
Xtreeme Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 But, I see next to it it states it's a DDR2-800 (XMS2-6400C5) ya then its the c5 version (not pro, not dhx just c5 6400) These ram models are confusing I know what you mean. There are just so many diff versions and your going about it the right way. Getting info from manufacturer. Asus isnt best source though corsair tests more ram then asus will list with that board. Asus techs dont come here that Im aware. Tell that to Corsair :) They do in fact exist: bang head into wall.......I should have KNOWN that. I have 2 512mb sticks of that in a pack sitting here! Oh well, Ill chalk it up to 4 hours sleep. Ya thats it lack of sleep. Sorry folks didnt mean to misinform you.
