natalieh79
Hi - I have had a disaster with my Voyager 2GB - I plugged in into my computer and it said the memory stick had malfunctioned. Now it won't read it at all and the only time it did it said it was blank and had a capacity of 0GB I had loads of work on there - does anyone know if there's anything I can do? I haven't knowingly damaged it and it is only 5 months old! Thanks for any help Nat
Xtreeme
If the stick is dead, the data is gone. ALWAY BACKUP your work. This is why, nothing hard drives, flash drives, cds you name is safe. Always have a backup. Its upsetting I know. Ive lost work in past too (well 486 days) before I learned to always have a backup. Sorry to hear you lost all your work.:[pouts:
Doogie
Nat, if we're going to help you we need a little more information...what was the "malfunction" (ie.e what error message was displayed when you plugged the drive into your machine?). What operating system are you running (also, if it's an Windows OS, let us know which service packs are installed). What are your machine specs? I suspect that your information can be recovered, but I would suggest that you set the drive aside and not try to read or write to it until we know what actually happened.
natalieh79
Hi - when I plugged my memory stick into the machine the bubble that flashed up said "a device has malfunctioned - try disconnecting it and reconnecting. When I did that it either gave me the same message or failed to see the drive at all. Only once did it 'see' it after that and thats when it said the drive had no capacity or files. I am running Windows Vista, my laptop has 2gb RAM and 100GB Hard Drive. Thanks for you time.
natalieh79
I have forgotten, but when I plugged it into the laptop I did get a different error message once saying Code 10, the device will not start. Hope this helps.
Doogie
Nat, this is from a previous post bt Ram Guy. Let's try this before we try anything else... "I would check this link as it seems to be a common issue with Vista http://teknobabble.wordpress.com/200...er-a-solution/ This seems to work as well. Go to Local Disk ©, got to Windows, got to System32, go to Driverstore, go to Filerepository, go to usbstor.inf ( click the on that is newest), cop ythe usbstor.inf and usbstor.PNF files. After you have copied the two files got to Windows, inf folder and paste the files in that folder. Now your usb devices (flash drives, hard drives, ipods, etc.) should work." Let us know how things turn out ;):
