JGKC9AYC
I'm running 2 SATAII drives off one of the supplied cables that came w/my 520HX. Recently, after installing a different heatsink/fan, I noticed that when I powered on the pc, I didn't hear any activity from my drives. I tried resetting the CMOS, making sure everything was seated good, blah, blah, blah. Finally, I moved the cable to the adjoining plug, fired it up & everything was ok. When I moved everything to my new case, I thought that maybe it was a fluke & plugged the cable in the old spot & I got the same problem, so I moved it back & it was ok. I haven't tried anything else in that particular site & I bet that's what someone's going to tell me to do. :) Also, I was wondering if anyone is using this particular model in a P180/2 and is using an MSI P35 Neo2-FR motherboard. I'm currently using an IP35-E, but am getting the MSI & was curious to know if my 8-pin cable is going to reach the plug on the motherboard. It looks like it's a couple of inches further down from the top. Thanks.
EliteKiller
I haven't tried anything else in that particular site & I bet that's what someone's going to tell me to do. :) Would you mind trying a modular cable with the 4-pin molex leads and hook it to a single case fan? Although this is not your motherboard it may give you an idea of the overall length. I'll give that a try. My new motherboard will be here Wednesday & i'll hook up the non-essential system fans to it. Just out of curiosity's sake, should it make a difference where one plugs the cables in at for specific components? Was that a Yates-Loon fan mounted in the rear or a Nexus and is it as quiet/more quiet than the stock 3-speed? Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2008 It should not matter which ports you plug any of the components into on the PSU. Let us know if the port is powering the case fan!
