Evil-Dragon
Hi, i'm currently in the stages of building a new PC for myself and i am planning to use an Asustek Maximus Formula, an Intel Quad Core Q9540 (waiting on release) and to have 4GB using 2 x TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. Are there any issues i need to be aware of with using 4 memory slots? I'm hoping i can run the modules at 1066Mhz due to the increased bus speed on the newer 45nm Quad core processors. Can anyone help?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2008 You are welcome to try but with 4 modules DDR800 would be suggested.
Evil-Dragon
Would the Twin2X4096-6400C5DHX be a safer bet for the Maximus Formula?

Evil-Dragon
Many thanks and one last quick question.. Why doesn't Corsair or any other memory manufacturer not offer a 2x2GB memory module at 1066Mhz (8500) as a 4GB option? I feel like going back to 800Mhz is a bit of a step backwards just to get 4GB running stable by only using 2 modules.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 11, 2008 The IC's needed to make a DDR1066 2.0 Gig modules were not available, but we just completed testing on Twin2x4096-8500C5D modules so they will start production soon.
