NealAM
Hi, I just got some new Corsair memory in the mail today from clubit.com. The model is: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4) I tried this memory out on both an HP PC (I think ASUS brand motherboard) and a custom made PC I built the other day (PCCHIPS brand motherboard). I can get both DIMMs to work if I only use one at a time. If I try to put them both in, however, neither computer will boot. Both computers work fine when using two DIMMs of a different brand of memory I have. I have not changed any settings in my BIOS or anything... what's the deal here? This is by far the most frustrating experience I've ever had with memory... I've spent the last 2+ hours trying to get these to work on either of my 2 PCs. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 9, 2008 These modules may not be supported in an OEM MB and I have never seen a PC Chips MB work, well maybe one! But the point is these modules will need 2.1 Volts and that OEM MB will not let you set that.
NealAM
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I've been trying to do some research and it looks like both motherboards need 1.8-volt RAM. My question is though... why will one of them work when separated, but not both together?
