cfree1961
I checked the configurator and these sticks are compatible with the board I'm doing a new build also will put in a Phenom 9500 any suggestions to make sure all goes with out much trouble?I take it with these sticks and the phenom my system should fly compared to my 4800+x2 and I will immediate update the bios soon as I am up and running I do not normally over clock but any suggestions to get the most out of the toy would be appreciated. So far I had some of my best experiences with the corsair ram!:D:
Yellowbeard
Depending on the version of the memory you get, I would suggest you set the RAM voltage manually. For ver 1.*, use 2.2v, for ver 2.*, use 2.1v. Depending on how fast you run the memory, you may be able to tune the latencies somewhat if it is at DDR800. However, you will need to do this manually and test it yourself for stability. If you run the memory at DDR1066, then set the timings manually to 5,5,5,15. Xtreeme
Dont hold your breathe on oclocking the phenom. We spent about 18 hours on the 9500 and a biostar TA770 (amd) chipset. The bios wont allow the use of ram dividers. I mean you set them say to 667 and in cpu-z its still 400mhz. The NB divider is 100% critical to oclocking the phenom and is missing in most bios, there is a mod bios for that board and while NB showed it too ignored any settings. This is not on a64, only phenom. NOTE this same board with a 5000+ x2 BE works in every way from ram dividers to oclocking like mad. Its the phenom cpu and the bios. Overall we got 22mhz oclock before the bios would reset! Its purely a bios issue but right now oclocking the phenom is a lost cause. At most youll get 200mhz or so and any increase needs some voltage to be stable. Also leave Cool n Quiet on in the bios or at boot one time you will have 4 cores and 2200mhz other times its at 1100mhz. Im really dissapointed in the lack of support in phenom so far. The mobo co's have work to do! At stock speed the phenom works well, but even the black edition (unlocked multi for oclockers) wont move 200mhz without some volts, so I would not buy the BE version. Just thought Id share my entire days worth of testing the spider platform with you.
cfree1961
Thanks Extreeme I really didn't intend to oc the 9500 just wanted to make sure I get the full 1066 out of the ram so I would get the most horsepower at stock speed but thanks for the info!
