Hookflash
I've had my hx520 psu for about 6 months now, and just recently I noticed that it emits a faint buzzing sound. It doesn't really bother me, and I'd rather not go through the hassle of RMAing it; however, I'm concerned that the buzzing could be indicative of an electrical problem within the PSU that could be dangerous to my computer components or something (my knowledge of electronics is essentially nil). What's the worst case scenario with this sort of thing? If my computer is working properly in spite of the buzzing hx520, is it safe for me to assume there's nothing to worry about--i.e., it's not going to fry my CPU or burst into flames? P.S. I stopped the fan temporarily with a small, rolled up piece of paper, and the buzzing persisted, so it's not the fan.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2008 The buzzing itself would not indicate that anything is mechanically wrong with the unit and there should be no risk of damaging any components in the system. However if the buzzing gets any worse, and starts to bother you we can have it replaced. You may use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
