Dalork
Well I just got my HX620 a few days back, had to press the power button couple of times first time I turned computer on but after those couple of presses it powered up and seemed fine. Worked as normal for few days and now wont power up the computer at all. It powers on for 1 sec and then goes dead, so I'm pretty sure the PSU is faulty as I put a cheap under powered generic PSU (only PSU I had on-hand) in and it works perfectly. Now my question is, is there anywhere in South Australia I can take this PSU into for a warranty claim as that would be alot easier for me because I bought the PSU from a online store in another state and postage would make it not worth bothering with. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 6, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 6, 2008 There are 2 possibilities. One is that the PSU is tripping the "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection" due to an out of spec signal from the motherboard. The second possibility is that there may be a bad component in the PSU. Before having the PSU replaced, if possible, you may want to test it in a known working system. If it gives you the same issues, we would definitely want to have it replaced, however if there are no problems in another system, you may want to RMA the board. Well now I'm most upset as well as my son, I did as you suggested and used his computer system as it was working fine to test the Corsair HX620. Soon as I tried to power his computer up it fried his computer. Now somehow I need to also buy him a new computer because of the damage Corsairs power suppy has done. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 7, 2008 Let's get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Can you describe what happened in the other computer? Any strange noises, smells or smoke? Does the old PSU still work in the system?
Dalork
I did smell something and turned the PSU off straight away, I didn't hear any sound and the computer never even reached Post. The only thing that powered up was the fans, as to does the old PSU work in the system ? No, the system is totally dead now even with the old working PSU. Seems the motherboard/processor died as soon as I tried using the Corsair PSU. Does your warranty cover damage done to other computer parts because of a fault PSU ? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 7, 2008 We can only replace our own parts under our warranty. You will need to contact the other manufacturers regarding their warranty procedures for their components.

Well the parts aren't under warranty anymore and they are only faulty now because of the Corsair PSU damaged them. Hard to get good support these days, even the store that sold me the Corsair PSU don't want to know about it. They said to speak to Corsair, Corsair say speak to someone else even though it's their part thats at fault. The store I bought the PSU from wont give me a refund either, sad to say that this has all left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think I want another go at using the Corsair product for fear of it killing another system which no-one will accept responsibility. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2008 Please email ramguy@corsairmemory.com with your contact information and please put "ATT: Ramguy" in the subject line, along with a link to this thread. We will contact you about setting up a failure analysis RMA so that we can determine if the PSU in fact is faulty and could have been responsible for damaging any of your components. Dalork
I've no longer got the PSU as I had already put in the post and sent it back to the online store I bought the PSU from. It's out of my hands now.
Xtreeme
WoW, so how do you expect corsair to "own up" if you dont let them see first hand the psu is bad? For all they know it was another part or EVEN a nicked wire in the case caused it. The possibilites are endless with pcs. At any rate chalk it up to experience. Any psu or electronic part "could" be bad even new and no most co's will NOT cover other parts damaged. In fact most manufacturers clearly state that in the warrenty statement.:!:
Dalork
I know new parts can fail, thats a given. I was upset because of several reason though they are all fairly small things really. Mostly I was upset when it killed the other computer. My new computer I had just built doesn't seem to be damaged, the PSU just wouldn't start it. I fail to see how it wasn't the PSU in question though as 1: it wouldn't power my computer. 2: it wouldn't power a 2nd known working computer, which no longer works since trying the PSU in it. 3: The original computer works fine with 3 other PSU's. This all adds up to only one constant = the HX620. So there isn't really anything to "own up" about. I had also wished there was a place in my own state where I could take it under warranty. I'm afraid sending it to the US from over here isn't even worth bothering with as the cost would just be silly. It would be just as cheap to buy another PSU, so I guess I was frustrated. I bought another PSU so I could try and further test my computer and the older system, since it does the job fine I just thought it wasn't worth bothering with trying another HX620. I guess it's just life, but one thing I will say is that it's great of Corsair to have these forums and people like the RAM guy who answer questions and do try to help out where they can. So I do thank you for your efforts RAM guy.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 8, 2008 No problem, thats what we are here for! From the sound of it the old and new systems are now working with the new PSU? I apologize that you received a faulty PSU, were you able to exchange it with your reseller?
