ts383
I've got two pairs of the TWIN2X2048 XMS2-6400 memory. The voltage and timings (on the RAM chips themselves) are 1.9v 5-5-5-12. I've had to increase the voltage (2.05v) and lower the clock (approx 700Mhz) to be able to boot (even to just access the bios) with 4GB installed in my MSI P6N Diamond. Everything seems stable now, but MSI support insists that the problem is I don't have proper voltage / timing settings for this RAM on my Motherboard. Is there a way to get the sticks to run at the advertised 800Mhz?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 6, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 6, 2008 With 4 modules DDR667 would be suggested, but you can try and increase the NB/MCH Voltage also known as NB SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts and see if that helps and I would suggest running the memory Voltage at 2.0 Volts Cas 5-5-5-15 2t CR with 4 modules. Xtreeme
What msi isnt telling you is this is a mem controller issue, not a mem volt issue. Most boards have this issue on any brand ram. Thats proof in itself. The NEW intel 1066 and 1200 boards will run it at 4x 800mhz but again, diff mem controler. So should the new amd phenoms since they support 1066 just wish I had one to test and be sure! (should today or tommorow!) But there again I doubt they will run 4x 1066, just 2x1066.
