I actually just purchased the GA-MA790FX-DS5 as well as some TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. the board is 1066 complaint, as well as the memory. Bios is up to date, and I've even tried manually setting the clock speed, but unfortunatly I don't have a full list of timings I need, but I cannot get this memory to run any faster than 800mhz without problems, any ideas?

When you say "Some", do you mean two or four sticks? What version are they? Look on the DRAM module and set to the proper voltage.

Download memtest from http://www.memtest.org and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.

Enter your BIOS. (IMPORTANT) Load Setup Defaults. Save Setup Defaults. On the main BIOS screen press Ctrl + F1. You will see the screen flicker. Next select the MB Intelligent Tweaker option. On that screen you will see many additional settings that were not there before.

Set to these values for two sticks.

Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)

CPU Clock Ratio = Auto

CPU Host Clock

HT Link Frequency = Auto

PCI-e Clock = 100Mhz

Set Memory Clock = DDR 1066

System Voltage Control = Auto

CPU Voltage Control = Auto

DDR2 Voltage Control = +.3v (For 2.1v) +.4v (For 2.2v)

Chipset Voltage Control = +.3v

PCI-e Voltage Control = Auto

HTT Voltage Control = Auto

HTR Voltage Control = Auto

DRAM Configuration

DCTs Mode = Unganged

Set Memory Clock = Manual

Memory Clock = x5.33 (1066Mhz)

DDRII Timing Items

CAS# Latency = 5

RAS to CAS R/W Delay = 5

Row Precharge Time = 5

Minimum RAS Active Time = 15

1T/2T Command Timing = 2T

All rest set to Auto

Boot to the Memtest CD and allow for two full passes.

Results?

Hi Derekt,

I'm struggelig with the same kind of setup and problem - however - my system goes "black" and then my pc boots after 5-10 minutes.

My setup:

GA-MA790FX-DS5 with latest Bios (F7)

4 x Corsair TWIN2X 8500C5 DDR2, 2048MB CL5 (4GB total)

AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition Quad-Core

When I installed the 9850 and Vista 64 I can run for around 5 minutes, and then my screen goes black and my pc reboots after approx 5 minutes. I'm nt a overclocker, I just want a stable PC..

Do you have any tips for voltage settings/BIOS settings? I've scanned the forums - sent mail ti Gigabyte - but I havent had much luck yet.. :(

Any help would be HIGHLY apreciated!!!

P.S

I'm not a completly noob - but please dont use so many acronyms *** english isent my first language..

Thanks in advance!!

Thomas

A bit of pathology please. New system? All new parts? The only memory that has been installed etc? Do you have another video card, even PCI? Memory module versions (on the memory sticks)?

With four slots being populated it is advised to drop the bandwidth one bin. From 1066Mhz to 800Mhz.
