jerbo
Have the Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 motherboard, and origionally bought your TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX, but found that Windows Vista (32-bit) would not even boot (although Ubuntu 64-bit did.) Anyway, I then noticed the disclaimer about 32 bit systems. Went back and exchanged for two packs of TWIN2X2048-6400 G. The problem is this set will not even POST. Get one long beep (which is a memory error.) Double checked to make sure they were seated, and tried to only install one set (2 gig) and got the same thing. Your memory configurator lists these as compatible. What am I missing?? Presently, I have 4 gig installed, with some lower speed RAM, but would like to max out my speed. (Within price reason of course.)
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 5, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 5, 2008 With 4 modules you would need to set the memory frequency at DDR667 and I would set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH Voltage to +.05 Volts and you may have to reset the MB BIOS to get it to see these modules when you change them. But I would try then one at a time to make sure one is not failing.
jerbo
Thanks. I actually searched some more, and found the reference to pressing CTRL+F1 to get to the BIOS configuration. It would not work, until I actually went into the CMOS first ("DEL") and then I pressed CTRL+F1. I was then able to set the 5-5-5-12 settings for the timmings. Additionally I was able to set the voltage to +.1 (1.8 + .1 = 1.9) which set it to the voltage for the modules. Note I did this with the old RAM in place, and then as soon as I saved the settings, I powered off the PC (after the POST Beep.) Then I swapped the memory, and powered it back up. All is working fine now. Thanks for all the help though.:):
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 5, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 5, 2008 NP and thank you for letting us know and with that MB I would set the memory Voltage to +.02 Volts.
jerbo
You said to set the voltage to +.02? Do you mean +.2? 1.8 base voltage, with +.2 gives 2.0 volts. 1.8 base voltage, with +.02 gives 1.82 volts The memory is listed as 1.9 volts. Oh, BTW, I did set the memory speed to DDR800 in the CMOS as well, with no problem. I noticed you mentioned DDR667?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 5, 2008 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 5, 2008 Yes the memory Voltage should be +.2 Volts but I think the BIOS shows it as .02 Volts and it would or should be 2.0 Volts.
