Need some help identifying my memory

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a matched pair of CM2X1024A-6400. Advertised timings for the memory was 5-5-5-18.

Opening the package and looking at the sticker on the memory i see the timings stated as 5-5-5-12 and the name as CM2X1024-6400, however spd configures them as 5-5-5-18 on first use.

This got me curious so I have a look at them in cpu-z wich gives me the following info: Part number: CM2X1024-6400C4, JEDEC #2: 5-5-5-18@1.8v, EPP #1: 4-4-4-12@2.1v. Aditionally the memory is marked as ver5.2 wich doesn't seem to exist for the CM2X1024-6400.

This makes identifying the chips on my memory a little difficult. Should I assume that my memory is really CM2X1024-6400C4ver5.2 and that my retailer sent me better latency chips than I ordered or is the part number in cpu-z wrong?

It looks as though you have modules that state an EPP (Extended Performance Profile of C4). Test it. Set your DRAM voltage to 2.1V and your timings to 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12 with a 2T Command Rate. Download Memtest from http://www.memtest.org and burn the ISO image to a CD disk. Boot to the disk and allow for two full passes. If stable, then yes, you have C4 modules.
