Dalork
Hi all, was just wondering if anyone heard or knew of any more news or info on these problems people have been having with the HX620 PSU and Nvidia 8800 series G92 video cards. I really want to buy one of the 8800GTS versions of these cards but seeing as I have a HX620 I don't know what to do  I don't want to do what others have done and change PSU as I really like Corsair gear and want to stay with them. bigbuck08
I am not up to date on the PSU's but what was happening with them and the new G92's?
Corsair Employees Power Guy Posted February 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 2, 2008 Hi all, was just wondering if anyone heard or knew of any more news or info on these problems people have been having with the HX620 PSU and Nvidia 8800 series G92 video cards. The vast majority of people with G92-based cards and Corsair Power Supplies have no problems at all. We've worked closely with NVIDIA on this and have determined that it happens on PSUs from multiple vendors, including our competitors. So the issue seems to be fairly random. As of yet, every time we've had it happen in the lab, it's been tied to a specific video card, and replacing the video card has fixed the issue. All in all, we've only had a small number of people with this issue. We sell tens of thousands of PSUs every month and our RMAs due to this problem can be counted on your fingers. Dalork
Seems alot of folks are getting Nvidia sentinel warning/message when using Corsair HX620 (also other good name brand PSU's) and 88** series cards with the G92 core. At first I thought it was only with Gigabyte mobos but seems it's with others also. Kinda weird as the G92's draw less power than the older processor I thought. Hard to know where the probem really is though. It just concerns me as I want one of these cards and I use the HX620.
EliteKiller
FWIW I have an HX520 (HX620's little brother), a BFG 8800GTOC w/ latest bios, and XP Pro SP2. I have never experienced the Sentinel error message, nor do I experience reduced performance. There's a current discussion about the issue here: http://www.houseofhelp.com/v3/showthread.php?t=64885
Dalork
Would just like to say to those that were worried about Nvidia cards with G92 core like me that I went out and grabbed one finally and everything seems to be fine...No Sentinal messages :D:
dinopoke
I hope I'm not derailing this thread but I do have this problem with my Corsair HX620 PSU and my Inno3D 8800 GTS 512 Overclocked. I have tried different rails, connectors and drivers. I know that my PSU may not be necessarily faulty as other peoples' problems imply but I was wondering if I was eligible for a RMA? If so, who should I contact in Australia (preferrably near Canberra, the capital)? I don't think my video card manufacturer (InnoVision) have heard of this problem before so I don't think they will count my card as 'faulty' (as it might work on other PSU's) and therefore I won't be allowed an RMA. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 4, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 4, 2008 Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. However if the issue is related to the card, then replacing the PSU may not resolve the issue.
dinopoke
The thing is don't know if it is a PSU or video card problem and I don't think my card manufacturer will acknowledge my problem. Is there a phone number or email I can contact to a Corsair branch in Australia if there is one at all?
Corsair Employees Power Guy Posted February 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 5, 2008 For those interested, NVIDIA has finally been able to reproduce the problem in their labs, and is working on a solution. As of right now, every major power supply vendor can potentially be affected by this problem. It is not tied to any specific brand or build of power supply. When NVIDIA has a solution worked out we will post it here.

I'm glad to hear the issue is still being worked on. Have they acknowledged the issue publicly anywhere that I can link to?
NoYaDe
I started to have the same problem when I switched out my mobo from a GA 965P DS3 (QX6700) to a GA P35 DS3L(E8400). I have a VX550 for almost four weeks now and never had the insufficient power warning on my GA 965 DS3 and my EVGA 8800gt 512 until I switched out my mobo and cpu for the new one listed above. The video drivers along with everything else in the computer is exactly the same as i had it. For now I downgraded my drivers to Xtrem-G 167.26 nvidia drivers and the message seems to have gone away but I only had a few minutes to test it so I cant be positive. I hope they can find a solution to this problem soon.
dinopoke
Have they acknowledged the issue publicly anywhere that I can link to? Yeah, I would too like an official statement on this matter. I'm not doing the 'blame game' on anyone here but it would be good to have some official recognition on this issue on tech news sites. It would help greatly to those who have this problem on their PC's (like me) and don't really know where to turn to except forums like these because it hasn't been officially recognised and no-one has really heard of this matter before aside from a few guys who post it up on forums. EliteKiller
Any news at all? Official response from AntecRep (similar to Power Guy's above): http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/40425-post19.html The bottom line is that nvidia doesn't appear to have an *official* fix as of yet. smithkt
Yep. Saw that. I tried sending the same question to the support at EVGA since they make the boards I have. I got the response I expected. They simply said that they are unaware of any problems and Nvidia has not provided any information regarding the issue. They can not confirm there is a real problem. I've never regretted a purchase quite so much as I do now. If I could unload these 88000GTs without taking a bath, I probably would. But that simply isn't going to happen. Nvidia could really learn a thing or two by seeing how you Corsair guys manage your boards. Keep up the good work.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14, 2008 I am not sure you will see anything official untill they have a solution or work around. But if they give us anything we will post it ASAP.

But if they give us anything we will post it ASAP. Yep. I have no doubt you guys will be right on top of it. I wish I had the same faith in Nvidia. I'm pushing two months now without usable 3d graphics. It's getting depressing. I'm in a no win situation and Nvidia really doesn't seem to care. I would have been better off with the 3870s at this point. I could use my step up option to get GTS boards, but that doesn't guarantee a solution. Frustration is simply not a strong enough word.
