Mglmstr
Has anyone sucessfully installed corsairs 2x2gb 667 ram modules into this laptop? I may have made the mistake of looking up the ram on Corsair's website and ordering the 2x2gb since it said it was compatible. All doccumentation on Compaqs site and other sites say 3gig max. I'll definately try the suggestions in the FAQ's. I'm just wondering if anybody has real-world experience with this laptop and 4-gb? Mglmstr
I'll answer my own question here and maybe it'll help someone down the road. For those that don't know, apparently Vista 32bit version only supports up to 3GB of memory no matter what hardware you have. If you want to see 4GB you'll have to use the 64bit version of Vista. That's just what I've heard, haven't personally tried it. Hopefully this will change down the road. Kinda sucks since the 4gb corsair package clearly states, "Windows Vista Ready." Nothing about only in 64bit mode. :-( Then again the ram was so cheap and I've never heard of 1.5GB sticks to get to 3 gigs so I'm not too bitter. hehe -B
semick
So did you actually get the 4GB installed and working with 64 bit windows? I'm in the process now of downloading Vista Home Premium 64 bit to try it out. Thanks, Scott Emick Euclid Friendly Computer Service
