Geod
Hi, I just got the HX520, before I was using an EarthWatts 500. Whenever I startup my system cold, the powersupply emits a high pitched whine, similar to a crt tv. But, once the psu warms up, the noise goes away. Furthermore, ocassionally when I minimize and maximize windows using the taskbar, the psu emits a beep. Is this indicative of a defective power supply. Thanks. division101
Did try a different PSU to see if it make any high pitch noise? What Graphic Card are you using? The High Pitch noise may be a conductor buzz.
Geod
The graphics' card I have is an eVga 8800GT When I was using the antec earthwatts previously, there wasn't any whine, but it buzzed loudly. I'll put my system specs in my profile.
division101
The whine may come from the Graphic Card NVidia 8800. Open your case and try 3Dmark 06 to see if it come from the Graphic Card or the PSU.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2008 If the buzzing is coming from the PSU then there is most likely nothing wrong with the functionality of the PSU, however it should not be buzzing and we can replace it if you like. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
