541jerryv
Hey everybody. I'm having a problem thats starting to get very very annoying. While playing games I get bsod and then a restart. Sometimes 2 minutes into the game sometimes up to 20 minutes but it ALWAYS happens. Somebody said it was my northbridge overheating but I highly doubt that as my northbridge is actively cooled by fan and heatsink and the problems happens even if I start gaming when the pc has been off and cold for hours. I believe the issue has to do with ram. My bios allows many settings to be tweaked. System config is as follows; CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition Mobo: Foxconn N570SM2AA-8EKRS2H RAM: 2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400 G Video: XFX GeForce 8600GT OS: Windows Vista Ultimate Now for the bios settings, I am reporting on every setting I believe has to do with RAM; Tiger Central Control Unit; DRAM Voltage - Default; Default, -0.150v to +0.600v (0.05v increments) Tiger Central Control Unit > DRAM Config; Timing Mode - Auto; Auto, Manual Mem Clock Value or Limit - DDRII 400; 400,533,667,800 DQS Training Control - Perform DQS; Perform, Skip CKE Base Power Down Mode - Enable; Enable,Disable CKE Based PowerDown - Per Channel; Per Channel, Per CS MemClock Tri-Stating - Disable; Disable, Enable Mem. Hole Remapping - Enable; Enable, Disable Auto Optimize Bottom IO - Enable; Enable, Disable DDRII Timing Item - Enable; (if enables unlocks following settings) TwTr Command Delay - 3 Bus Clocks; 1,2,3 Trfc0 For DIMM0 - 327.5ns; 75,105,127.5,195,327.5ns Trfc0 For DIMM1 - Same as above Trfc0 For DIMM2 - Same as above Trfc0 For DIMM3 - Same as above (Twr) Write Recover Time - 6 Bus Clocks; 3,4,5,6 (Trtp) Precharge Time - 3 Clocks; 2,3 (Trc) Row Cycle Time - 26 Bus Clocks; 11-26 (Trcd) RAS to CAS R/W Delay - 6 Clocks; 3-6 (Trrd) RAS to RAS Delay - 5 Clocks; 2-5 (Trp) Row Precharge Time - 6 Clocks; 3-6 (Tras) Minimum RAS Active Time - 18 Bus Clocks; 5-18 1T/2T Memory Timing - Auto; 1T,2T,Auto (Tcl) CAS# Latency - Auto; 3,4,5,6,Auto There are a ton of settings in the BIOS but I'm pretty sure those are all to do with RAM. Please look this over and let me know what to change to get the most out of my setup and if this could be the cause to my problems. If any other info is needed let me know! Thank you in advance! 541jerryv
Sometimes I think vistas the problem. I'm about to go back to XP ProSP2 but I would like to wait to see if anyone has any thoughts on this.
