Markus_71
Hi all! I'm new in this forum. I'm from Austria and my English is not so good. In November 2007 I "assembled a new PC. For Hardware I used please see my "System Specs". Everything works fine for 2 Months. Since last Week when I start the PC, it will run for 10 - 15 min, then he restarts. There is no Error-Massage or else. It makes no differences if I stresses the System or it boots from DOS-Floppy and do nothing. At this time i have supplied an No-Name PSU with 500W and the PC works fine. I hope you can help me. Kind Regards Markus
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2008 There are 2 possibilities. One is that the PSU is tripping the "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection" due to an out of spec signal from the motherboard. The second possibility is that there may be a bad component in the PSU. Before having the PSU replaced, if possible, you may want to test it in a known working system. If it gives you the same issues, we would definitely want to have it replaced, however if there are no problems in another system, you may want to RMA the board. Markus_71
hi, thanks for your answer. At the moment i dont have another system for testing. But PC is working with other PSU without any problems. Does other PSU's dont have this "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection"?? What can I do now to solve the Problem? Kind Regards Markus
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2008 Most "no name" PSUs will not have these OCP and OVP circuits built in. If you would like to try replacing the unit, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
Markus_71
hi, yesterday i opend an "Tech Support Express Case". Today i get mail with following text: Corsair Technical Support has sent you a message regarding Case #425012 ---------------------------------- I am sorry but that does not show as a valid number, please reply to that case. ---------------------------------- Thank You! What does it mean and what have i to do now? Kind Regards Markus
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2008 They may have thought the number that you gave in the message was a TSX Case #, which would not be valid. If your system is rebooting randomly there could be a few different possibilities. Memory could case this, I would recommend testing the memory one module at a time to see if one of the modules are causing this. An overheating component could also cause this, you may want to monitor your motherboard and CPU temps to make sure there is not an overheating issue. Another possibility is that the PSU is tripping the "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection" due to an out of spec signal from the motherboard. And of course the last possibility is that there may be a bad component in the PSU. Before having the PSU replaced, if possible, you may want to test it in a known working system. If it gives you the same issues, we would definitely want to have it replaced.
