Partitionieren eines 16GB USB Stick

Hallo,

habe mir den 16GB USB Stick "gegönnt" und möchte diesen jetzt in 2 Partitionen aufteilen.

 

Leider funktioniert das mit keiner mir bekannten Software. In diversen Testberichten zu Corsair-Produkten war immer etwas von Tools zu lesen, die dem Stick beilagen. Mit denen sollte das klappen. Bei meinem USB Stick (Flash Voyager) war sowas leider nicht dabei.

 

Auch die Beta vom Corsair Drive Tool bringt nichts, die läuft auf meinem Rechner (Windows XP) nicht.

 

Wie bekomme ich das hin?

Korrektur: Das Tool läuft zwar, bietet aber nur Synchronisationsoptionen und keine Partitions-Funktionalität.

Das Tool das wir normalerweise beilegen bekommt man hier umsonst: http://www.truecrypt.com

Die 2. Partition kann man dann auch einfach ohne Passwort belegen

 

Eine recht einfache Möglichkeit wäre auch das Booten von einer Boot-Floppy oder einer Boot-CD und das Anlegen der Partitionen mit FDISK

 

Zu guter Letzt liefern Suchmaschinen à la Google hier auch jede Menge Hinweise... :):

Hab ich da was verpasst? TrueCrypt kann USB-Sticks partitionieren? Ist mir neu, wie denn?

 

Partitionieren mit FDISK: Mal davon abgesehen, dass das schon eine sehr "mittelalterliche" Vorgehensweise ist und andere USB-Stick Hersteller ihren Sticks entsprechende Windows-Tools beilegen: Das Partitioniren mit FDISK habe ich bereits versucht, ohne Erfolg. Windows erkennt anschliessend nur die erste Partition. Gibts da vielleicht genauere Informationen? (Primäre Partition notwendig? Oder nur erweiterete Partition mit 2 logischen Laufwerken?)

 

Google: Vielen Dank für den Hinweis, das war das Erste was ich getan habe. Leider ebenfalls ohne Erfolg. Was ich durch Google gefunden habe war dieses Support-Forum. Ansonsten immer nur der Hinweis, dass andere Hersteller ihren Kunden ein entsprechendes Tool zur Verfügung stellen. Diese funktionieren mit Corsair-Produkten aber leider nicht.

"Yes you can use a DOS Boot Disk or CD and FDISK to create the partitions and format the root partition as DOS then you can make the second partition an extended DOS partition and use Win XP Disk Manager to format it."

 

Demnach mit FDISK eine Primärpartition erstellen und die 2. Partition dann unter Windows in der Systemsteuerung - Verwaltung - Computerverwaltung - Datenträgerverwaltung als erweiterte Partition anlegen.

 

Evtl. hilft auch das HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - jedoch ohne Gewähr

 

Bezüglich Truecrypt: TrueCrypt starten, den halben (oder wieveil Platz eben gewünscht wird) USB-Stick zu einer Containerdatei machen und kein Passwort vergeben sollte auch funktionieren.

Hello everyone,

i am new to this site and i am hoping that you guys can help me out with a problem.

I have a flash voyager usb stick from corsair and have been trying to partition it.

well, i think i messed up.

i used the program "Swissknife" to try to partition it, but after i formated the stick, i get no response from it.

even though it's empty, the stick is shown as full and i can't access to it anymore.

Windows XP Pro does recognize it when i plug it in and the led does blink too, but that's just about it. when i double click on the removable drive icon, it blinks but nothing happens. it doesn't respond, the led just keeps blinking at regular intervals.

Can anyone help me out?

I found the solution to my problem.

i went in windows admin tools and there i was able to format the stick again.

now it's back to normal.
