bigkid1
I currently have an asus p5k-e/wifi mobo with twin 2x2048-8500c5d installed. I was running the memory at dd2/800 because of a timing problem with the mobo and bios. I currently upgraded my bios to the newest ver(0906) in hopes of getting the speed up to the rated 1066. When I set the speed to ddr2/1066 in auto and try to boot, my machine won't even run the post. I have to remove of the dimm to get it to work. It would work ok at 1066 if I only had 1 of the dimms installed. One of the problems is that 1066 will only work with 1 of the dimms. I want to clarify a little, it will only work with one dimm not either one. If I put dimm#1( I'm using the nuimber to make it easier) by itself, the system boots and work ok @ 1066 and 800, if I put dimm#2 in by itself it will only work @ 800 and not 1066. If I put both dimms in the system will only work at 800. Any suggestions. Thanks Joe
Wired
Do you have ONE pair, or TWO pairs, of Twin2X2048-8500C5D?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 29, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.3 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
bigkid1
I ran the memtest with the memory set at ddr2-800 all night with no errors. The problem is that one of the 2 dimms won't work with setting at ddr2-1066. One module will work at 1066 but the other one won't, both work at 800. Think that one of the modules is not up to running at 1066. Also if one of these modules are bad and have to be replaced, do I need to to send both modules back since they are supposed to be a matched set. If this is the case I need to get replacement memory so my system won't be down until I receive the replacement modules.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2008 Let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
bigkid1
I already used the online rma request, thanks. I have one question, do I need to send them in as a pair since they are matched. How long does it usually take because my computer will be down as long as it takes to get the new modules back. Thanks Joe
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2008 If you purchased them as set the RMA will have to be submitted as a set part number and yes you should send both modules. Average turnaround time is 5-7 Biasness days in the US and 7-10 Days out side of the US.
