BabisSougias
I want to buy 4GB DDR2 PC6400(800MHz) for my pc. -The motherboard supports up to 8GB RAM(according to the manual). It has 4 slots, 2 for channel A and 2 for channel B. -I run Windows XP 64-bit so i have no limitations from there Something in the manual troubled me and got me thinking that i cannot install 2GB on a single slot unless it is 533MHz. Since my english is poor and i might be wrong, here is the exact statement: "You may install a maximum of 2GB DIMMs on each slot, but only DDR2-533 2GB density modules are available for this configuration". So that means i cannot use 2GB DIMMs at 800MHz? I do NOT mind if i buy 800MHz RAM and they run at 533MHz if and only if it is configured automatically by the motherboard. Specifically i had these in mind: CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 4GB (2X2GB) PC2-6400 (800MHZ) CL5 DUAL CHANNEL KIT CORSAIR XMS2 DHX DDR2 4GB (2X2GB) PC2-6400 (800MHZ) CL5 DUAL CHANNEL KIT In the case that i cannot use 2x2GB 800MHz, can i use 4x1GB 800MHz like this CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 4GB (4X1GB) PC2-6400 (800MHZ) DUAL CHANNEL KIT ? Thank you in advance for your time :):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2008 If you install 4 modules yes you would need to lower the memory frequency to run at DDR667 or DDR533. But I would suspect that MB can run 4 up of Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX at DDR667 at 2.0 Volts as long as you have a 1066 FSB CPU.
