Dragon King
Why is the SOYO SY-KT333 DRAGON Ultra Platinum Edition motherboard not listed in the memory configurator? I would like to upgrade RAM to 2GB or 3GB with Corsair memory (currently has 1 Corsair CMX512-2700C2 module). From the motherboard manual: "Your board comes with three DIMM sockets, providing support for up to 3GB of main memory using unbuffered and non-ECC DIMM modules from 64MB to 1GB. On this motherboard, DRAM speed can be set independent from the CPU front side bus speed. Depending on the DRAM clock speed setting in the BIOS setup, appropriate memory modules must be used. For 100MHz DRAM speed, use PC1600 memory; for 133MHz DRAM speed, use PC2100 memory; for 166MHz DRAM speed, use PC2700 memory." What compatible modules are available to give me maximum capacity and speed? Where can I buy them?
Wired
I'd imagine it's not listed because it's a very old board (in technology refresh cycles) that can only take up to PC2700 memory, and AFIAK, Corsair doesn't make PC2700 memory anymore. The 3200C2 memory may work in it, but I'd wait for an official answer on Monday to be safe.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 29, 2008 You can use two modules at DDR333 if you have a 333 FSB CPU, and I would suggest VS1GB333 in slots 1 and 3 and set the memory Voltage to 2.7 Volts. The specs on it list PC2700 as the highest it will take. :[pouts: I realize that this is a very old system (in technology refresh cycles), but then again it's extremely fast compared to my first 2 systems - a TRUE BLUE IBM PC (8086) and a TRUE BLUE IBM PCAT (80286)

Thanks for your input. I will try your suggestion and see how that works. Do you have any recommendations for the other bios settings available for dram? Should I set timing manually or let the system do it by SPD?:sunglasse Here are some of the settings I can adjust in the bios: DRAM Timing: By SPD DRAM CAS Latency: 2.5 Bank Interleave: Disabled Precharge to Active(Trp): 3T Active to Precharge (Tras): 6T Active to CMD (Trcd): 3T DRAM Queue Depth: 4 Level DRAM Command Rate: 2T Command AGP Fast Write: Disabled What do you suggest?
