Radd
seems my thread was overlooked earlier so im reposting. Im getting lock ups and a windows Write delayed error shortly after installing my new memory. So i did some research to find out what was going on. I didn't even think it was the memory till i came accross this tidbit of information 7. Memory parity issues. If the problem appears after installing new memory, the memory in question may be faulty or not of the correct type for the motherboard in question. (This may go hand-in-hand with other problems such as random lockups, too.) My motherboard is Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe my memory is Twinx2048-3200c2PT G Ive tried to set the memory timings to the advertised settings 2-3-3-6 but had bad lock ups with that so i tried 2.5-3-3-6. Still having bad lock ups. Bios default sets the memory to 3-3-3-8 but it still has lock ups on that too. During this message ive had maybe 20 momentary lock ups. --------[ EVEREST Ultimate Edition 2006 © 2003-2006 Lavalys, Inc. ]--------------------------------------------------- Version EVEREST v2.80.534 Benchmark Module 2.0.139.0 Homepage http://www.lavalys.com/ Report Type Quick Report Computer JOE-2BED381B9F8 Generator Joe Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 (WinXP Retail) Date 2008-01-25 Time 12:39 --------[ SPD ]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ DIMM3: Corsair CMX1024-3200C2 ] Memory Module Properties: Module Name Corsair CMX1024-3200C2 Serial Number None Module Size 1024 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks) Module Type Unbuffered Memory Type DDR SDRAM Memory Speed PC3200 (200 MHz) Module Width 64 bit Module Voltage SSTL 2.5 Error Detection Method None Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh Memory Timings: @ 200 MHz 3.0-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Memory Module Features: Early RAS# Precharge Not Supported Auto-Precharge Not Supported Precharge All Not Supported Write1/Read Burst Not Supported Buffered Address/Control Inputs Not Supported Registered Address/Control Inputs Not Supported On-Card PLL (Clock) Not Supported Buffered DQMB Inputs Not Supported Registered DQMB Inputs Not Supported Differential Clock Input Supported Redundant Row Address Not Supported Memory Module Manufacturer: Company Name Corsair Memory, Inc. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. Getting memory parity errors would suggest you have something set incorrect in the BIOS or a problem with the CPU.
