Larzx3
Hey I've got a vx550 to upgrade my comp since I got such a good deal. :/ This system has been running great for months on my antec stock 350w PSU. When I went for first boot, all the fans including the fan on the vx550 started pulsing slowly on-off. After just a few seconds the whole system would shut down. I checked all the connections and tried a few more times. Same thing each time. I put my old PSU back in and it fired up normally and went to boot screen. BIOS is fine, but NO Hard Drive...DEAD! I put this HD on another comp and it's still dead. I did the PSU test with a fan and it fires up, but seems slow to me. I checked the fan with a MM and it shows 12v. So now I've got new HD's coming Fedx and my taxes are on the old HD. I'm really worried about hooking this vx550 up to another comp. I really don't need to risk more HD damage. Any ideas about doing tests or just RMA? Thanks, Lars
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 25, 2008 Try and make sure that the MB you are using will use a ATX 2.1 PSU and if so I would try and clear the BIOS with the Clear C-MOS Jumper on the MB and make sure that you have the 12 Volts 4 Pin PSU connector is attached. Larzx3
I tried to get an answer from Asrock but this is the lame reply they gave me. Dear ASRock America Customer, 4CoreDual-VSTA supports standard ATX12V power supply (20-pin and 4-pin). ASRock America Technical Support I have a dead HD not a bad MB. How about you give me an RMA and test this on your HD's?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 25, 2008 Well I would call their Tech support if its not in the user manual, but I dont have a problem replacing the PSU if you want to try that, but I would suggest testing it with another MB if you can. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
Larzx3
For anyone who is interested, I got this reply from AsRock who says the MB is compatable with the vx550 Dear ASRock America Customer, It will support ATX12V Ver.2.01 standard power supply. Please check with the power supply manufacture if the ATX12V Ver. 2.2 is backward compatible with the ver. 2.01.
