vhailior
I have posted this on custompc forums and I have been kindly advised to try posting here as well. I apologize if my issue has been resolved and answered before. I have recently built myself a new pc using: Asus P5k Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 4x 1gb CM2X1024 6400C4 ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro WD 160GB Caviar HD CoolerMaster 1000W modular PSU and other bits and bobs I have installed the 64bit Vista Home Premium edition. From what I can gather, my pc seems incredibly tempermental. At various times i will have bsod for various reasons including but not limited to: IRQ Not Less than or equal to page fault in non paging area (?) System Service Exception Memory Management I have run a win Mem diag test on : each ram stick on slot 0 and they all make it past 10 passes ok differing combinations on slot 0 and slot 2 for 10 passes and all ok slots 0,1,2 and I recieve errors. slots 0,1,2,3 and I recieve errors. So I run 2gb of ram on slots 0 and 2 and my pc seems to be running stable when i set CPU voltage to 1.325V and ram voltage at 2.3V. Running a stress test on prime95 this is stable. However when I try to run with slots 0,1,2 populated I either bsod at windows or never make it there and end in a endless cycle of reboots before it even reaches the loader. 4 slots populted is jsut as bad. Whenever i try to populate more then 2 slots I get these errors and go back to 2 slots, however that never reaches windows and I have to drop to 1 slot, load windows before i can safely populate 2 ram slots. I would like to have 4gb on my system and woudl appreciate any advice on what to try. I have also installed the hotfix for vista 4gb issue. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2008 With 4 modules the memory frequency should be set to DDR667 and I would set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts Max and set the NB/MCH Voltage to +.05 Volts and then test the system with http://www.memtest.org to make sure its stable. Also You'll need to install MS patch 929777 from Microsoft for more than 3 GIG in Win Vista. You can search for it at http://www.microsoft.com.
