lilack
I had an old motherboard and 2 OCZ rams but then i decided to swap it out for the IP35 PRO MB and throw in 2 (2gig) corsair XMS2 Ram STicks. CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail (TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX ) I have no idea wt is wrong with my comp...but the comp would just randomly feeze and i would have to reboot the computer. Then i have reformated my computer like 2 times with 2 different OS's and it would still freeze. I have taken out the CPU, Graphics card and blew out all the dust and still it would freeze. I Did zero overclocking...so i was wondering if there was a solution on what i can do. AT first i thought it was just the Heat inside my comp but my Abit guru thing says my comp is only running from 39 to about 45 C. So i know its not that problem. and i cleaned out my everything and blew out all the dust etc etc. THen i thought it might be the registry or what not so i got tuneup utilities and ran it all and it would still freeze. Then i came across the Corsair fourm and dug around and saw that i should manaully set the ram timings etc etc and i did. IT ran for like 1 and a half day without freeze then while i was playing W3 last night it just froze again. THen again 15 mins later. I also checked if i had the last video card drivers and Bios and i do and it would still freeze. I also read to change the ram voltage to 2.1 so i did and it still freezes. Processor : Intel Pentium®D CPU 3.20GHz L2 Cache: 2,048KB MEMORY: 3,328MB Motherboard: IP35 PRO Video Card NVIDIA Geforce 7950GT If there is any more information u guys need to know just tell me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I really would like to get this problem solved. THANKS again. -Kevin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 25, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 1.9 volts (+.1 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. Also if you have Windows Vista You'll need to install MS patch 929777 from Microsoft for more than 3 GIG in Win Vista. You can search for it at http://www.microsoft.com. lilack
CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail (TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX ) ok so i did the memtest for each stick placing in each of the slots. i put it in the same slot and came up with no problems.... then i put in both sticks at the same time and came up with no problems too.... So now i don't know wt to do......

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 29, 2008 It looks like the MB is over clocking the CPU slightly, I would try and set the CPU and memory frequency manually. Also I would try and set the memory frequency at DDR667 and see if that helps as well.
lilack
Thank You Ram Guy. Will Try It Tonight. :)

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2008 Usually its not the memory when a computer freezes what is the make and model of your PSU? And have you tried un-installing the Video Driver and using the default widows driver to see if it still locks?
lilack
I built my computer myself. Wt is PSU? wts it stand for. All my Bios and graphic drivers are up to date. (IP35 PRO) http://www.uabit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=48&page=1&model=381 MB: IP35 Pro (Doesn't come with a internal graphics card) DDR2: Corsair ones i listed above Video Card: NVDIA Geforce 7950GT 1 random question I am trying to play Kane and Lynch and when i read my system requirnments it all meets but when i play it gets all sluggish or slow so i think it is the heat. I cleaned out my CPU fan and all the other fans out and it still does it. Does that mean i need to upgrade to liquid cooling? cause when i check my abit guru thing it says my CPU temp when past 55+ C. When i leave it idle it goes at like 41-47 C
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 31, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 31, 2008 PSU = Power Supply Unit! And yes I was assuming that the drivers were up to date, but to see if its a driver issue was why I suggested that.

Garvin
The minimum recommended +12volt amperage spec. coming out of a power supply for a single 7950GT card is 22A (27A for dual cards in SLI). If a power supply can't meet the peak current draw demanded by a video card, programs will lockup or the PC will freeze frequently.
lilack
o really? ah...i asked the guy at a different fries if my 600 powerwatt would be enough for the card and MB that liar... SO how much of a powerwatt supply do i need to get? or tell me which one would work or something like that? or which one to get if i wanted to throw in 2 EVGA 7950GT KOs into my comp. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Xtreeme
Not all psus are same if he didnt tell you that, he prob. was just trying to make a sale or didnt know what he was talking about. A good BRAND psu at 650watts would work with your current setup. A cheap one WONT. A good psu is rated at max USEABLE watts. Cheap ones are often rated at max watts delivered for a period of a second or two LOL not what it can constantly put out. Corsair has some nice psu's. As for how large get the biggest you can afford. The psu only makes the power the pc needs, so a 700watt wont use that much less the pc asks for it (draws it). In short, you cant get too big of a powersupply unit if going with high end sli setup. BTW, ram issues are usually Blue Screen with error code called BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) A commen one I see with bad ram is IRQ not equal to or less or fatal exception etc.
