rmp9
I have 2 Flash Voyager GT usb drives, 4 GB and 8 GB. When trying to copy or to open files stored on the drives I sometimes get an error message saying the file was not available or does not exist. After that, the flash drive root directory is blank - all files and folders seem to have disappeared. Stopping, removing and reinserting the drive "brings back" the files. I am using Windows XP SP2 with all updates. The problem occurs with desktops (IBM) and laptops (Dell Latitude and XPS). This problem happens with both drives, the 4 GB more that the 8 GB. The 4GB has more files stored on it, in multiple folders (going a few layers down in terms of subfolders), has 57 objects in the root directory, and is close to full (99 MB left). The 8GB has large MS Outlook *.pst files stored on it. I have not seen this problem with USB drives from other manufacturers (Dell, SanDisk, etc.). Any idea what might be going wrong? Any suggestions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2008 That might suggest the systems may not be able to provide enough power to the Drives. I would suggest testing them with an externally powered USB HUB.
rmp9
Thanks for that thought. The trouble is, the problems happen when the drives are plugged directly into laptops (2 so far) or a desktop. I have thought that the USB extension cable supplied with the drive may be the culprit, thinking along your lines, but the problem happens without the cable as much as with the cable. The same USB ports have powered 2.5" external HDs without any loss of data during the same period that the 2 voyager GTs have been having problems. markthakkar
I've been having this problem intermittently ever since I got my 2GB FlashVoyager GT a year ago, and large files have been a particular nuisance. I hadn't realized Corsair provided such a simple RMA facility – I think I'll take advantage of it right now! Mark.

rmp9
Last Feb I wrote about a problem with a 4 GB Voyager GT flash drive. You recommended I return it. I did so and Corsair finally received it on 3/25/2008. Since then I have received nothing back from Corsair nor any communication. Your help in resolving this problem would be much appreciated.
