macgyveremir
Hello everyone. I'm having trouble with my mems. Since several weeks ago, my PC used to freeze randomly, but just seldomly. Now yesterday it freezed at the very first minutes, in windows as well as in linux, and now it even freezes while I'm checking the BIOS setup! My MB has a message output feature by using 4 bi-color LEDs, and the code present on these LEDs when the system hangs corresponds to a memory module failure. I have stopped testing at this point as I'm thinking things may get worse. At first I thought it could be a HDD failure, bu this happens regardless the HDD being present or not. My config is an AMD 64X2 6000+ CPU with the TWIN2X2048-6400 pair, mounted on an MSI K9N SLI Platinum. Should I RMA my modules? Thank you!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 22, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard and then load optimized defaults and set the Memory Voltage to 1.9 volts and then set the timings to 5-5-5-12 (CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! Please allow memtest to run 2-3 passes on each module. If you still get errors, we will be happy to replace them! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
