Anubus134
I've been running an Intel D975XBX2 motherbaord with two Corsair CM2X1024-6400 ram sticks with no real issue for over a year now, though recently I've been having trouble out of them. The board will boot with ethier of the two sticks, but not both. Intel support say it's because the board puts out 1.8v while the ram requiers 1.9v. I'm a fairly expereinced user, however I've never overclocked and dont have much expereince with changing voltage settings. So I wanted to ask before I inadvertantly melt the board or something. Should there be any issues with manually setting the ram to 1.92v via the bios?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 22, 2008 No please set the memory Voltage to 1.9-2.0 Volts and then test them with http://www.memtest.org
Anubus134
I set it to 1.9v and ran the test. Both individual sticks went through 1 complete pass with no errors. When I placed the both in there were 2 errors during test 7. Failure Address 00079941068- 1945.0MB Good: d3188d06 Bad: d3188d02 Error Bits: 00000004 No idea what any of that means. But when trying to boot windows nothing changes. Ethier stick is fine, both sticks gets past the bios screen and to a black screen with a blinking cursor. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 22, 2008 Please wen you install both modules load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and exit saving changes and the test with http://www.memtest.org and see if that solves the problem. If not, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
Anubus134
I did as you asked. This time the test made one complete pass with no errors, however when attempting to boot windows I still end up at a black screen with a blinking cursor. I'm back at square one on if the problem is the Ram or the motherboard it's self.
