stainedglasstil
My computer wouldn't start this morning so I removed one stick of ram and the computer booted up. I switched the ram and no boot. The computer has been working fine up to now. This ram is CMX-3200 2Gig, warranty replacement from Corsair after the same problem last year. Could I have a RMA please? Should both modules be replaced? Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 21, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard and then load optimized defaults and set the Memory Voltage to 2.75 volts and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! Please allow memtest to run 2-3 passes on each module. If you still get errors, we will be happy to replace them! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. stainedglasstil
If I install one stick of ram the computer works fine, if I install the other I get nothing, no boot. If both are installed the boot screen says 512 memory installed and gives a memory R/W error and shuts down. The bios is up to date, the settings in the bios are set to auto, and there is no way to check the ram that won't boot. It seems that one of the modules is bad to me. I took the ram out of another computer and installed it in this one and it workds fine. Thanks
stainedglasstil
Can I assume that if one module works and the other doesn't, in the same slot, that one module is bad?
