Godzirra
Hi, i bought 2 gig value select for my xps m1530 and ever since i installed it my laptop crashes on start up with a veriety of bsod errors. the bios recongnizes the additional ram and when i get into vista somehow or another it runs fine and recongnizes all of the ram (total of 2.5 gigs). in the other module i have a 512 stick that was the original and it is definitely fine the problem started the first boot after installing the new ram and installing the old one causes no problems so i think the problem is in the ram. But the fact that the ram is recongnized by the bios and windows confuses me, can it still be faulty hardware anyways? my OS is vista home premium 32-bit and yes i typed system wrong, i blame society
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2008 Please try the following instructions, in order to get your system to recognize the new memory: 1. Remove all RAM 2. Power on system 3. Let it run for 20-30 seconds(system may power off prior to 20secs) 4. Remove battery and AC(to insure power is off) 5. Only install the Corsair RAM 6. Check if system is stable

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2008 You basically reset the BIOS, and forced the system to re-detect the new memory and set the correct settings.
Godzirra
Hi, It seems that after the first two reboots the problem has returned. The system BSOD on startup, even when i try to start in safe mode. Its starting to get really frustrating, should i get a replacement?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 21, 2008 I would recommend testing the modules one at a time either with http://www.memtest.org, or just by rebooting the system, and see if you can isolate a particular stick that may be failing. If one passes and the other fails, then we would want to get the set replaced, however if you are getting the same errors with both modules, that might indicate another issue.
